If She Was So Close to Her Aunt?????

If she was so close to her aunt that she left her a historic home, why did she find out about her death via mail? Did she not visit her before she died or go to the funeral? She was within driving distance. I just think about a lonely old woman...

Watching it now. Seems like the Thanksgiving where she hid the box was the last Thanksgiving she spent there. Somehow the divorce kept her away and due to the bad memories also kept her from celebrating Thanksgiving.

I was wondering the same thing. No matter your issue with your parents at least call or check in every now & then especially since she had no other relatives.

Everything makes sense if her aunt was her dad's sister. Her mother would have cut off all relationships with her and her bitterness would have effected Mary.

Mary was the only relative her aunt had thus she willed her the house.

Also a sister would cut off a brother who was an idiot but the brother would not contact his sister if he discovered she was right.
