Reviews Are Very Suspicious

Every review is very similar so I imagine they are all done by the people that worked on the film. Each one states how great the film is, but no one really points out why. No one give any plot what so ever either. They all seem to be from the country of origin as well. Maybe I'm just cynical after being burned so many times before by the same type of reviews. Any way just be careful if your planning to spend money on the film based on the reviews.

It's not good, though South Americans may be used to the low quality

reply

Oh, grow up. Yeah - they've not been 'treated' to all that high quality Hollywood depth and substance. How would they know what constitutes a good story? South Americans are most certainly all one people, too - so we can definitely talk about them as if they're a small community.

Oh, so you're are actually a superior being? shut up, we have the same hollywood crap as you do and we don't make big deals about it.
This movie is actually clever and something you don't see in hollywood or european films.

It was suspicious for me too, until I watched it.

Corny in certain scenes, but the writing and story are beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Rated it 8/10.

Yes, I'm suspicious too when there are only a bunch of reviews and they all say "best movie ever", "brilliant" and the sort. But I watched this movie and it's a quality film.

The story is a high point, as well as some of the performances. There are truly effective scenes. I especially liked the one with the medium; maybe not that scary, but very well done. On the other hand, the make-up could have been better and there are some clichés, like the guy investigating in the library (we've seen that so many times before!). I also think the character of the husband was not very well written. The cinematography is very good, but I think there are some issues with the image processing, specially a green hue that looks like an Instagram filter in some of the night scenes inside the house.

The end is too melodramatic for my taste, but the overall result is satisfying. 7/10 for me.

I can't know if reviews are real or not, 'cause such reviews might have been, but I watched this movie and really enjoyed it. The plotlines were interesting, and acting was good in my opinion, though at first I expected an average film about murderer house.
The user reviews are written by other imdb-users like either of us and I think mostly from Spanish-speaking countries, maybe language barrier caused simplier style of reviews. I am a Russian native speaker and I'd be afraid to write a review in English, because it requires more official style and disables mistakes I could do, some non-native speakers dare to write reviews.

I watched it and it was pretty bad. A few scares and a hackneyed time travel plot. Nothing remotely original and it was far too melodramatic for my tastes. It baffles me when people say the plot was clever - maybe I'd be impressed if I'd never seen a film involving a time travel loop before.

Apparently we just viewed the UK Premier, at Fright Fest, London, England, on Aug 24, 2014
Maybe that explains the lack of reviews from.... Europe...
It went down very well at Fright Fest

reply

Perhaps the reviews are vague b/c they don't want to give away the plot? It would ruin the movie knowing any of it ahead of time. For what it's worth, I just watched and thought it was excellent.

Very suspicious of the high rating. I was tricked into watching two other tomato cans called Resolution and Absentia because of the high ratings. Skipping this turd.

Many films have bloated reviews on imdb. So being wary of them is normal. Similar to the OP, I've been burned a lot of times as well, jading me against imdb reviews.
