No on-screen chemistry between Winslet & Schoenaerts

Very disappointed with this film. Mind you, I watched it only knowing it was a costume drama involving Louis XIV and Versailles and I had seen that Alan Rickman was playing Louis XIV, but I didn't realize he was the director until it was over (I usually ignore opening credits, when possible).

If you've seen Ridicule (1996), that was what I was hoping A Little Chaos might approach. Instead, I had a hard time getting into this film. I thought Rickman was fine in his role, and Tucci also did a great job. But there was definitely something was missing with Winslet and Schoenaerts, especially Schoenaerts. There was just no passion there.

Also, I think this would have been a better film with a different approach in the editing. It felt to me that the shots of the gardens and gardening were excessive.
