Can someone explain this plot hole with Michelle? (MAJOR SPOILERS)

We first think its the pollen but learn later that its in the water,

But watching the movie again, Michelle NEVER drinks the water or gets black blood in her mouth like Christy.
It shows her (assuming) becoming infected by the pollen that comes out of the Air system in the truck.

Did anyone see how else she might have gotten the virus?

I think it was water from the windshield not pollen in the air system.
