Really good movie. I almost didn't watch it. So glad i did. How interesting it would be to talk with someone like him in real life, hear all their recollections.
shareThere are a lot of eccentric old guys like him in NYC. Many older guys in the arts in Manhattan lived very colorful, bohemian lives and of course a good number of them were closeted. Guys like this feel protected and comfortable being themselves in old age living in NYC and the last thing on their minds is moving to retire in Arizona or some other slower, less progressive place. Give them some alcohol and sit back for some fun stories.
shareI would gladly supply the alcohol. Its a gift when an elderly person, or someone from an earlier generation truly opens up,and tells you of their past life. It's interesting to consider how events may have shaped the person they became.
Also, I couldn't blame an older person for wanting to stay where things are familiar, and they are accepted.
