Where is this being shown, will it be released on DVD?

This is one of those films that is screened in only in a few places (most people who want to see it don't live near the places it's shown). Does anyone know if and when it will be on dvd?

As of the date of my posting:

A quick update about distribution and DVD extras.

Hey everybody.

We've been getting a lot of requests for updates on The Unbelievers, so here is a small (albeit, very small) report on the current situation.

We are still pounding out the details of distribution.  While we are smaller "indie" film company, we have actually had some very decent offers for world-wide distribution and we are trying to come to the best arrangement for the largest possible reach for the film.  Regardless of which way we go, this will certainly include iTunes and the other video-on-demand providers, as well as DVD, etc.  We are also striving to ensure a theatrical run (probably only in select cities) later this year.  We will also be showing in a number of film festivals around the world later in 2013.  Again, still working out the final details with festivals, but we will announce as soon as we can.

One thing I think we can safely share is that the DVD extras are going to be very cool.  We have about an hour of extended interview footage (not in the film) with Ricky Gervais, Sarah Silverman, Woody Allen, Tim Minchin, Ian McEwan.... and all the other folks that were nice enough to lend their voices to the movie.  On top of that, there are about 15 minutes of deleted scenes and a 10 minute "behind-the-scenes" documentary that we have put together while all of this "negotiating" has been going on.  It has more than a few fun moments that we weren't able to fit into the film, but we are glad they will get seen as bonus features.

I wish we could say more, but there isn't really much more to say, right now.  We are playing the waiting game too.  All we can say is a sincere THANK YOU to everyone for hanging in there.  We wish we could speed things along, but, we too are at the mercy of the powers that be.

Keep the faith.  :)  More soon.

Thanks for the update! all the news about the bonus material sounds great as well!

On a side note. I live 20 kilometers from the town where your last name most likely comes from: Holwerd, do you have any Dutch ancestors?

No problem posting update. It came from information I came across, I am neither Gus nor do I have any connection to this film, just someone that is looking forward to seeing it as soon as I can.

Cheers,

I just saw the movie, it premiered on the "Cinedays" festival in Macedonia-Europe...the movie is awesome, and the producers, the Holwerda brothers were there and said that the movie will have its premiere in the States sometime in December.

So cheers, I hope you like it...it spurred a great debate after the showing and people were very accepting of it.

I asked the Holwerda brothers, why atheism isn't that popular in the States, and they basically said that it was because of the general climate of the country, many things depend on religion in the USA, which I believe is correct.

Enjoy it :)
