To the ONE star review

This was written when there were only four reviews for this film.

One of them is a single star - but I can imagine when it comes out, unthinking drones will flock here to slate it because it challenges their beliefs. That's a given.

In response to the LOWEST rating you can give a film - to challenge some of the phrases used.

"Pathetic propaganda"
In film itself and in every interview it is explained that it was structured to consider and challenge beliefs. Not to convert anyone, but to give a point of view from a cross section of atheists, you can get the religious viewpoint from anywhere, its all too common. The coming together of intellect to challenge belief is fantastic, in my opinion.

A bunch of 'Celebrities'

A deliberate cross section of society was chosen, well known in their fields - biology, physics, entertainment, writers and intellectuals. This was to reinforce the idea that atheism isn't just for scientists, but for everyone who has the ability to think for themselves.

What would you prefer to grab your attention? A bunch of unknown people dragged off the street?

'Endorse a belief system'
This is a common misconception. Atheism is NOT a belief system. If you want to bring up the scientific method, this goes hand in hand with atheism. Throwing away ideas for better ones or better evidence. Not believing without thought, inquiry or rationality.

'Dawkins runs scared from a debate with William Lane Craig'
Right. I am well aware of William Lane Craig and I wouldn't waste my time with him either. His methods of debate are so convoluted and riddled with semantic error, contradiction and just plain crazy assumptions wrapped in the guise of philosophy and totally un-scientific claims, that by the time he has addressed the audience for half an hour, I wouldn't know where to begin! Richard never changes his argument, he just presents the facts. The flip-flopping and delusional methods of trying to crowbar in science into a theist belief system are insane.

Anyway - expect the terrible reviews -

Zero from very angry people
A few stars from people trying to look critical, but are actually hiding anger.

This is a good film and rationality needs all the help it can get in this world.

Very well said.

Indeed! +1

from the fact that the movie still has an 8.4 rating, it seems people who don't watch much movies are just a bunch of philistines as would be expected. except a few like the one star ones who just come to this page here to vote it down.

Just shared my review and thoughts on the bad reviews as well. It really just comes down to them not wanting to research and learn about what they are spouting. It is this behavior that is so prevalent that makes it difficult for science to make any kinds of sense for them. One has to be open and fascinated by the questions and journeys that Science provides. Being purposely close-minded not only hinders the person but their kids, family, community and dear say anything larger groups (society).

I grew up Catholic, was pretty into it because of the stories that I loved so much as a kid but that one day on the bus when I could not stop wondering how plants survived and finding out about photosynthesis, I just never looked back. 4th grade and onward was never the same after my eyes opened for themselves prior to any hardcore science lessons. Curiosity, wonders of nature, wonders of the stars (got into astrology later on), mysteries of the universe or whatever you may want to call them are beautiful. As Lawrence Krauss would say it is even more magical than religion could ever be.

And the bit about Dawkins turning down a discussion with some "Dr." Craig, please read:

Exactly.

The problem is considerable. Those unthinking drones are most everybody in the world.

I respect the stars of this production. I agree with beliefs. I agree with their anti religious motivations. I hate this film. It feels like it's 60 percent b-roll, the music and camera work are completely unsuitable. The format and direction is so obviously crappy and without purpose. One star from me.
