This was excellent and as a huge fan of the animes (not the manga) I loved it. I have all the other episodes and films and tv films and redux etc. and I love them all for being different but the same well this is the same but different.

It looks awesome and has signature cool GITS gadgets and plots and madness and some awesome fight scenes and robot brilliance. Obviously watch in Japanese with Eng subs if possible. I cannot wait for the next instalment.

Seriously anyone who moans about this because it looks a little different is an idiot as the manga is very VERY difference and eventually became hentai so be pleased with what we have and what we have is excellent.

My only issue is it is a little convoluted and confusing but so was the oavs sometimes due to language and cultural issues as well as poor writing lol

Also if you love the films and the previous tv shows then you might have to readjust but the back stories and the new focus really make it their own and by the end you simply don't care and just want to see hot robots kill each other!

Agreed. Matching up the rest is a tall order. Considering they're the best anime of all time and all. But, this show does it. I was more than pleased. Ghost in the Shell SAC was so good it ruined anime for me. Because by comparison all other anime was terrible. I watched new anime after new anime on a quest of sorts. Looking for something that could put up a decent fight. After checking out over a 100 shows I only managed to find 1 or 2 I'd even dare mention in the same sentence. Those being Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. So this new installment was more than a breath of fresh air. It's filling that void that GitS SAC left behind.

In a different style you can check out Monster. It's a masterpiece.

I only watch anime dubs & the new voice actors are ruining it for me. They're not necessarily bad, I can just never get the previous actors out of my head since I've seen GitS so many times. Really wish they hadn't changed the cast.

Agreed, I really missed Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's voice as The Major.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I wish Mary Elizabeth McGlynn was playing Motoko too but she's voicing Kurutsu (which is kind of weird) but her voice fits that character decently. I miss her as the major though.

I freaking loved it. So glad Netflix has this for instant watch.
Glad I waited to watch it because at first it was only available in Japanese w/subtitles.
The animation in this is STUNNING. Love the fight sequences.
GITS is not my favorite anime series (Mezzo Forte) but it is the best anime series.

I think Arise is a wonderful addition to the GITS canon. It is just as smart, sexy and action-packed as SAC. The animation, music and cinematography are all top-notch. A must-watch.
