Frankie is a breath of fresh air

To anybody who did not see this has missed out! It is nice to finally watch a drama that is not all doom and gloom.! It is as true to real life as it can get and frankie herself brings humour and depth to the programme. I seriously hope they make a second series. If I have one criticism it would be that there should be more actors from Bristol and the west Country cast as that is where it is set. Bristol is a brilliant city. I have to say well done guys! Loved it!!

I thought it was fun too... Maybe you can help me understand the synopsis on IMDB, something about no known Northern Irish actors are in the show? I am guessing your from the area, is there some disdane for Northern Irish actors? Thanks!

Now after looking at a map I see Ireland, Northern out not, isn't even on the same island as Wales or Scotland... No bridges between them... And such a small geographic area in total... I don't understand the seemingly snarky comment on IMDB'S synopsis at all. But there are lots of things about British shows that make me wonder...

It's a parochial observation (and a criticism) that no Bristolian accents were prominent in the show.

The use of other regions that have very distinct accents of their own is a way to drive home that point. Welsh, "Northern," (owt, nowt summat), Scot...

Thanks for the insight! It seems Parochial, refers to a "narrow view", something we can relate to here across the Pond. However it seems that our particular racism is most oft defined by skin colour, rather than region. I find it interesting that all the geographic area, including the island if Ireland, could be contained within the boundaries of say, Texas. I don't think that most Americans notice the differences in dialect like the Brits. It must/may be because your Country has such a long history before rapid transit and the internet, that regional bias developed so deeply in such small areas. Although I am reading that the English are now a minority in London, with that fact fostering a deep resentment for the loss of English culture. It seems strangely sad to think that our Countries motherland will soon be lost to so many different ethnicities setting up shop in British locals and being unwilling to learn the language or adopt local customs. Hopefully you folks will do a better job than the US when it comes to creating a Country that honors its past and enfolds other regions into a strong and truly United Kingdom. I am grateful to see shows like Frankie and Luther etc. even if I do have to rewind quite often to understand the particular version of English.
