Do you people actually watch this show?

You people seem to hate on this show before you have even seen it. Is that how you review any reality show? Blam it before it even comes on TV? Do you people actually have high intelligence? Just cause the show is on taxidermy doesn't mean you need to automatically hate on it. God, today's generation is retarded.

bobs... well since you ask... and not wanting to engage in a circle jerk argument, I'll give you a respectful response to your question and say no more..

First of all, if you have seen one "Reality" show you have seen them all... they all follow the same scripted, staged plot line... focus on over acted drama and cliffhanger episodes... stories all include fights, mistakes, errors, deadlines, equipment failures etc.

Yes... I for one do shun a TV show if it is listed as a "Reality"... and form my judgement of it before it even airs... other than the "Reality" classification which equals a 99% certainty that I won't be watching... I also use the following criteria...

The show sucks if... the title begins with the word "Extreme" or ends with the word "War". ... if the title includes any form of the words "Alaska" or "America". .... the show is produced by Thom Beers. ... the show is on the channel that somehow still has the nerve to call itself HISTORY.

I think that more and more people are starting to see that these so called "Reality" shows have as much to do with "Reality" as does an episode of the FLINTSTONES... they are starting to see that they are nothing more than cheaply produced SitComs.. and more and more are finally getting tired of being lied to by the Producers of this crap.

The irony in this post is that the episode I watched did not include:

Any fights
Errors
Deadline failures
Mistakes

The only equipment failure was one piece not hanging correctly.

All that said, the show is just mediocre. It seems rushed. I think they could have done many many things better than they do at the moment. But it is obviously low-budget, so it is what it is.

Another reality show that I watch is Face/Off on Syfy. That show DEFINITELY has people failing deadlines and screwing up, but very little to zero manufactured drama. 95% of the show is dedicated to the craft. Those are people working entirely with their talent and creativity.

I would concur that a good 70% of current reality shows are scripted nonsense. But there ARE exceptions. Being a snobby douche (It is true, don't deny it) doesn't make you look smarter or better than other people, except perhaps in your own mind.

No need for the name calling, I posted a respectful post and for some unknown reason I expect others to do the same.. but they never do... not trying to look smarter or whatever...OP asked a question..I gave him my answer.. I was responding to him..

It's more of a game show / competition. If it was set up in a multiple contestants(er 18 or something) and they were eliminated it would be considered a reality show.

I think you're fighting a losing battle Ltrazordaddio. Most people that do watch reality junk know it's fake and watch anyway. The other portion are dumb people who will watch anything. The only way out is for it to run its course. Which given the amount of subjects they've created (hoarders, jousting, robots fighting, etc), it could very well be endless.

There is a reality show based around jousting?

reply

Was. It was called Full Metal Jousting.

And before that I believe there was another reality show about medieval stuff (which incorporated jousting) but Full Metal Jousting was completely about jousting. It wasn't too bad, but the guys would miss each other a lot and it could be pretty boring.

And I'm using the definition for Reality TV a bit differently (than some people might anyway). You could argue it's a game show or competition(there were 18 or so guys, eliminated 1 by 1), but they still had the whole deal of having a house or whatever where the competitors stayed at. And a lot of the stuff was overly dramatic. Sort of similar to Top Shot.

I wish game shows and competition shows would stop going for the Reality TV angle. A lot of times they overdo it and it ends up sullying the entire competition. The original Japanese Ninja Warrior was more interesting than anything to come out of American television programming (er game shows I mean) in the last 10-20 years. And that show was based upon contestants competing in a difficult obstacle course, with very little to no excess material to bloat it down (there were bios for the contestants but those were usually under a minute and told while they were just about to start the course)

Flash forward to Ninja Warrior USA and they destroy everything that made it good. Altering the rules of the game (no more automatic eliminations from the first stage, one of the special things about Ninja Warrior was that anyone, no matter how good, could still slip up and be out of the competition), only allowing contestants who seemed like they did Parkour for a living, and spending an inordinate amount of time on contestant bios.
