Who wants to be part of a campaign to ask Netflix to revive this show?

One of the best shows ever. We cannot let this happen without giving a fight!

It's over and done with. The writer ended the series the way he wanted to, which is to say, poorly and haphazardly and in response to a cancellation he refuses to acknowledge.

reply

Yeah, it's a shame. It's like Deadwood, for those of you who know how that series ended in mid stream. So many loose ends in Penny Dreadful, it's just not right to end a series so shabbily for an audience that was so invested. A total slap in the face.
As for a revival, it's like the end where we just have to let it go.....and Vanessa is dead. Once that bridge was burned, there's no going back I'm afraid.

She was the least interesting and the most overused character in the series. It could easily go on with out her. It would probably be even better honestly.

how can you say that about vanessa

Cause he is 100% right.

You're, of course, 100% wrong.

I absolutely loved this show, the complexity, dark characters, sensually writen and a compelling story line. I do indeed hope that Amazon or Netflix raises it from the dead but I highly doubt they will. It is one of those shows that at times made me think of what the past may have been like. The darkness, a old school cinema feel that drew me into the depths of the story. I appreciated the old black and white horror genre. Having one in present day, in color, was a real treat.

I do!

"Whoa, Summers, you drive like a spaz!"

Never going to happen. Netflix is planning on spending $6 billion on content in 2017. No way can it afford to pick up a show like Penny Dreadful with its current slate in place. If there is any chance at all of Penny Dreadful being continued, it would with Amazon.com. Amazon is ramping up is spending significantly, enough so that it will actually bring it in line with Netflix.

So Penny's best odds would be with Amazon, not Netflix, but even those odds are so remote that its safe to say that its just never going to happen. Unfortunately, PD is just one of those shows that you disappointingly have to say goodbye too.

Still Shooting With Film!

The problem with PD is that it's a niche kind of show... It doesn't draw in big ratings and viewers, it's also a very expensive looking show pretty much = No chance for a revival.

This is one of my top 20 all time series, maybe top 10. There are also plenty of stories left in it.
I'd say there will be opportunities for Penny Dreadful to make its way back in some form...just not for a while.
Don't be discouraged if activity on this is flatlining through 2017...but hey, if there is a campaign brewing, I will sign on.
