disappointed

I saw this film last night at the cinema and had been looking forward to it as I thought it was my kind of film [British, 'real', presumably low-budget, and with an interesting plot.] I was disappointed, and left the cinema with a feeling of having 'got through' an ordeal, - with no clear ending, and, moreover, with no affinity to any of the characters, - most of whom were vile. The only one it seemed with a conscience was the Gary Lewis character, - but even he was left quite sketchy, and we didn't know enough about him. Anyone else feel like this about the film?

Nope, I thought it was a very good chase film and unfortunately I'm pretty certain what happened after the camera stopped rolling. One thing I cannot work out is who was the most repugnant - the girl's farther and his gang or the mercenaries helping them. The Gary Lewis character seemed ambiguous. We wanted him to help and he seemed to have a conscience but in the end he took the money and ran - I was left wondering how much of his part ended up on the cutting room floor.

Ruth, are you saying the two leads (assumably 'lovers') are also "vile"? How so?

I felt the same. Films can be raw, and I don't mind that as long as it still feels like a film. But this crossed the line into just being uncomfortable from start to finish. If there are heavy parts in a film then there should be some kind of reward for getting through them, like humour, or justice etc, but this has none of that. Didn't enjoy this one at all.

i had been avoiding watching this for no apparent reason but gave it a go last night. to be honest i was kinda blow away. the acting was spot on and so was the direction. one should not expect a high octane thriller.

the haunting soundtrack during the chase scene was amazing and one of the best recently.
