Don't let the bad reviews fool you. This is an EXCELLENT MOVIE.

I was impressed at the way the director worked the shots, specially interiors, creating a sense of solitude and disillusion with life. Beart is great, her voice matches perfectly her actions, and the only thing I have to complain about is her plastic surgery. Not a fan of what Dr. Beverly Hills has done to her face.

The kid is awesome, his mother superb and everybody else is just great. The movie works like a clock, perfectly. You may not like the ending or the sole concept of BDSM, but what a great story and direction! And this movie wasn't nominated for the Oscars?

This director is good and I'm watching his next movie FOR SURE.

The mother tells her son something about love, "it´s messy, and at first you may not understand it". Same thing I tell you about this movie. See it on Netflix while you can.

Agreed.

Casting was excellent, even given that Mme was a little old for her role. Her age actually works to give her character gravitas.

There are almost no movies on this subject that feel real but this one does. Even when I was sure of where it was heading (disaster) it surprised with an original and fitting ending that gives the story meaning and resonance.

I agree with your review. I thought it was good drama and the chemistry between the young man and the mistress was very believable. Highly recommended.
