Irish people acting like Al Qaeda and ISIS

Shocking that a modern day European people would act like Middle Eastern terrorists. Glad these idiots stopped this foolishness.

reply

We Brits are not truly European! (Touchy subject, politically, these days).
Which side of the argument, specifically, were you referring to as acting like ME terrorists? Terrorists are terrorists, ME or otherwise.

Northern Ireland is. Where this happens to take place...

Nope.

Britain = England & Wales
Great Britain = England & Wales + Scotland (because Scots are great!)
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland = Self explanatory.

reply

Terrorism is bound to no country and neither is immaturity and ignorance.

reply

You are aware that these "modern day Europeans" are from 1971 (hence the movie title) and actually predate the Middle Eastern Terrorists to which you seemingly refer, yeh?

reply

We are in a veritable minefield now, when it comes to ME politics.
I lived & worked in the ME at the end of the 70's and early 80's ; Israel on our maps was a blank.
The start of this ongoing unholy mess was the Sykes-Picot delineation.
Now, we have an American-backed Israel and especially in past 15 years, real extremist elements of the Arab cause raising tensions to inhuman (&inhumane) levels to further their extremist cause.
Sadly, I see no end in sight, not even remotely.

reply

You mention the Sykes-Picot deal with the French but ignore all the British promises made to the Arabs in regard to forming their own nations. Promises that were all ignored after the war.

reply

No.
My mentioning Sykes-Picot was my admission of my country's mistakes in our past policies in the Near East.
The British FCO was, over many many years, hugely pro-Arab, unashamedly so.

reply

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

reply

How else can you resist to a much stronger force that oppresses you, dumbass? You'd remain silent and suck Adolf's balls if Nazis invaded your country then, eh?

reply

If you are referring to NI,NI was and is an integral part of the UK of Gt. Britain, by the wishes of the majority of that valued Province.

reply

...thanks to the potato famine, Oliver Cromwell, Black and Tans et cetera. Very convincing arguments to wish to be a loyalist. Of course it's not confined to NI with UVF blowing up people in Dublin and Monaghan.

reply

These points are old chestnuts.
No point arguing with a closed, prejudiced mind.
NI, thankfully continues to move forward with a brighter future for all its citizens.

Are you serious? Europeans killed 20 million people 30 years earlier ( World War II ) including 6 million Jews. Al Queda and ISIS will never come close to that total.

reply

Do you not realise that the "terrorists" see themselves as resistance fighters? Would you also call the French resistance terrorists? Do you need more help to see the mistake you're making?

reply

The majority wanted to be part of UK so yes they are terrorists and since the UK recently bailed out republic of Ireland it looks like the majority of northern Ireland was wise to want stay with UK.

I live in London and grew up during the 'troubles', let me tell you this, the IRA put more fear in me than any middle eastern terrorist, we had the 'ring of steel' in London, which was seriously enforced. There have always been a lot of Irish in London and I've never seen them back out of anything, hard bastards they are. Having said that they were always the friendliest lot as well, just don't get into a pub argument with them! But there were some pubs in Kilburn (North London) where the IRA anthem was played at closing time.

IRA's targets were more targeted and despite what people think, nothing to do with religion but nationalistic.

I met some pretty mean nuts from the Protestant side who were actually a bit more evil and more aligned with far right elements as well.

reply

Your ignorance is disgusting
