The guy just isn't funny and i'm african american.

Color has nothing to do with it. The guy has very little talent. I come nowhere close to the eye watering, stomach aching that I got from the old comedy greats. Cedric the entertainer, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, even Katt Williams in all his swearing is 10x funnier than Keven Hart. I don't see why people love the guy so much. Maybe because the greats are no longer around or have unfortunately passed away?? I guess when there is nobody else people flock to him but I'd rather watch reruns of married with children.

Or he's funny?

and I think the guy is hilarious. Hart sold out MSG, a 30.000 seat venue on back-to-back nights. Only the very best of comedians could do that. And of the comedians you listed, I would say only Rock can rival Hart in popularity in stand-up. Chapelle rose to fame with his skit show, not his stand-up.

Stop being naieve. The world isn't colorblind because you want it to be.

Your post speaks more of your thought processes than any string of words ever could. You do know that finding someone funny or unfunny is subjective, right? Moreover, finding Kevin Hart funny is not mutually directly dependent on ethnicity.

People who think as simply as you do are the reason that such demographic data is used so empircally. That's how Tyler Perry was cast as Alex Cross.

To all of the replies to this thread... I couldn't have said it better

So color has nothing to do with it yet you point out you're African American?? I personally think Kevin Hart is hilarious and I'm white, but color has nothing to do with it.

reply

If color has nothing to do with it then why do you feel the need to point out that you're African-American, as if that makes you an expert on the matter?

reply

But when did you sell out MSG lol

have to agree 110% with the OP. the guy is simply not that funny, to me anyway. but hey it's a subjective thing.

also, we often confuse selling lots of tickets with quality and we shouldn't always make that correlation. just because something/someone is popular does not necessarily mean it's good, especially today when products are usually directed towards the lowest common denominator.

the OP is right in the sense that maybe it's all relative and the younger crowds today haven't been exposed to the older and funnier comics. so kevin hart for them is like eddie murphy or richard pryor for older generations.

you can make the same analogy with sports and argue that lebron plays in a league today that has less talent than when jordan played. thus, would lebron still be as dominant as he is today if he played in the eastern conf. during the jordan years.

would kevin hart get the same amount of laughs if he performed in the same set with the older comics, my opinion, probably not.
