I stopped watching it at around the point where the two main leads are framed for murder by the girl they saved, and then that agent died. Did the show get any better after that?

If you didn't like it up to that point, then I don't see you liking it after that point.
That said, anyone that doesn't find this show hysterical is crazy.
Does it get better? That depends on how much it is appreciated up to that. I thought the show was great from the start, but you obviously did not.
The plots spin around and finally come together in the last episodes. I found some elements of the character development of little worth early on, but they make sense as the ends are tied up.
So ... yes!
