So the Asian Guy with Umbrella is a kung fu master???

Give me a damn break. No one ever in Resident Evil knows Kung fu and all of sudden there's an Asian guy and he's a kung fu master? Wow just WOW Resident Evil. I couldn't believe I was seeing this crap in 2017. This movie is as racist as Rogue One and their sudden Asian that is the only kung fu master in the galaxy. Hollywood is making me sick.

reply

Well rogue one did have Donnie Yen, who IS a king fu master.
This on the other hand, I don't even know,

You said it yourself pal, we're the guardians of the galaxy!

reply

i dont know who the character is, so me and a friend just called him vector (the "main" character in resident evil ORC, student of HUNK, and a martial artists, and also half japanese) since he reminded us of the character, but unmasked

reply

Wow are you enabling this racist movie?

reply

you do know stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason, right? someone didnt just woke up one day and said "im gonna make all them chinese martial arts masters because i said so". many of the most popular asian actors we get in western films usually starred as martial artists in china, which is what got them their work in movies.

bruce lee, jackie chan, jet li, that guy who i always forget his name. they arent acting when performing their arts, they DO them. because they are martial artists.

on the other end of the spectrum: the stereotype that (natural) blond girls are idiots?
obviously not all blonds are, but statistically, more blondes have accidents of *insert even here* than any other hair color.

reply

What happened to that guy after they drove off with him

reply

Well,he still was behind the armored vehicle when Isaacs took controll again on that tank

reply

Did you not watch Afterlife? The HQ, where Wesker resided, took place in Japan (I believe). That guy was one of Umbrella's commander, along with in Afterlife all the workers were Japanese.

reply

Uh no, this is the first time he's appeared in a Resident Evil movie.

reply

The actor who played the Commander Chu in this was not one of the guys in the Umbrella Japan scene in Afterlife. Lee Joon Gi is pretty popular in Korea so they added him in a cameo to appeal to the Korean market. Most of his scenes are shown in the Korean trailer & ads. Same with Rosa in Japan.

He's got some Tae Kwon Do experience and has done fight scenes over in South Korea. Nothing hella stylized like this was though. What's sad is even Milla commented on his abilities in some interviews but with the camera work & cuts the fight scene suffered.

Racist movie is racist.

reply

You do realize how ridiculous this sounds right? You're mad because there's a guy in resident evil who knows Kung fu...? I don't get it, are you jealous or something?

reply

Must be a troll. No one's that stupid.

These forums can't close soon enough.

I'm racist because I'm saying that it's not ridiculous to have someone who knows Kung fu in the resident evil franchise? Okay ?

reply

Wasn't talking to you, champ.

reply

I'd normally just Ignore you but what the hell, the forums are gonna be gone soon, I'll bite:

Alice has being doing 'kung fu' since the first movie in 2002, and in every one since. Ada Wong in the games has shown to be a martial artist since the fourth game. Jill, under Umbrella's control, had advanced martial arts skills in the fifth game and "Retribution." Pretty much since the movies introduced the concept of characters knowing martial arts it has been included in the games in various ways.

Now run along, little troll. I know you likely don't care, but FYI it's people like you who delegitimize real racism which you claim to be bothered about.

lol, completely ignores the point of this topic to explain a bunch of non related stuff. Good job, kiddo.

And now you're Ignored.

AKA, you admit defeat.

So long racist.

reply

I pretty like this character. The fight with Alice in Raccoon City was so good.

reply

Let me answer this for you. The Korean actor playing the role knows Kung fu and he's got quite a following. The motive is clear: money, money, money. Since the franchise has become sickeningly bad beyond repair, why bother writing a good story? Focus on money. Anderson is quite financially smart. Using the Korean star can attract fans of his.

Effective trolling is art.

reply

And the opening weekend didn't even match the films budget. Looks like word got out about this racism and it's costing them.

reply

I have to say that actor did a great job, in person he looks like a charming guy but in the movie he really looks evil and the fight was pretty good, I wish that instaed of making him a random soldier they could gave him a videogame character outfit instead like Hunk, Vector, Agent or any Umbrella soldier from the games just for the sake of make it more interesting.
