Eye Porn

The way Makoto Shinkai and his team tells the story is unique.
The story does not only offer great eye candy but emotions are fused with the colorful scenery, story was well layered and added to the wonderful experience.
The sound fills in the silence beautifully.
Definitely worth your 46 mins or so.
I recommend watching it with headphones and 720p resolution or higher.

Watched it on BD; yes it is beautiful like all his films.

Also, nearly ever shot in this film is of an actual place in Tokyo. Most of the movie takes place in 新宿御苑 (Shinjuku Gyoen) which looks beautiful in real life (but maybe not quite as shiny as in the movie). haha

Indeed it is very beautiful. And eye porn is an accurate term to describe this film. Sometimes, I just play it in the background to liven up a drab afternoon.

I believe this is the same park in Tokyo where the classic 1950's Japanese film The Sound Of The Mountain concluded its poignant story.

Couldn't agree more! The graphics/images/drawings are simply breathtaking and mesmerising. Like many others, I really loved the raining scenes and the way the water falls on the ground; couldn't believe it's anime at first. It's that good. Absolutely stunning piece of work.

Eye porn indeed. It's the details of all the little things that make it stand out so much like it's real life, though not just the visuals but the sound as well that make it so vivid.

It's extraordinary. The animation is so stunning that several times I just had to pause the film to take it all in. At times it's hard to believe that it isn't live action. Truly, the people who created this are so, so talented. And the piano music throughout is just lovely. The film has such a dreamy quality, whilst also not shying away from the difficulties and heartache of modern life - it's an excellent balance. Definitely a film to be re-watched many times.

Lucy72077, you said it for me too.

Thought this might be a negative thread but I was pleasantly surprised.
Porn does sound a bit deregatory and in thoughtful film like this, I wouldn't have used that word.
But I digress.
It is a beautiful film. A slice of life that I long for.
