I was so surprised that there was a reference to another serious but comedic film.

When the Nazi inspectors arrived and they all did their Nazi greeting to each and every person in completion.

That was quite funny as it showed how fanatical they all were in making sure they all did their complete greeting or else they might not be looked at as a serious supporter.

Quite an interesting way to build up the suspense for the kid as the longer they were in the house. The worse it could be for him.
