Great pilot, lots of promise

Just finished watching the pilot on Amazon Prime (BTW IMDB and Amazon: put this out there elsewhere, too. It was almost too much of a pain just to see the episode; lots of web hoops to jump through. Any more than a couple of clicks and a great deal of your target audience will give up, trust me).

The pilot, though still unfinished/unpolished, was great. Hilarious writing, great original story, and lovable characters, especially the pompous moron captain and his lackey. My only recommendation would be to reel-it-in with the stoner jokes. One or two per episode can be funny, but there were a ton of them in the first episode alone. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with weed (like, seriously, you have no idea) but after one or two jokes it just feels like you are... A: pandering to a demographic rather than appealing to their mutual taste in comedy, and B: coming off a tad one-note writing-wise.

Other than that, the stop-mo looks phenomenal, the voice acting is top notch, and the visual aesthetic, especially inside the ship, is amazing. I hope this gets picked up for the 2013-14 season.

I've watched four "Amazon original" pilots so far (this, Alpha House, Browsers, and Betas). So far this is not only the only one I liked, it's the only one I wouldn't turn off if I happened to run across it by accident. I was giving up hope on the Amazon pilots.
