seems to have fizzled out

anyone watching this ?

reply

I am.

reply

It fizzled on launch. I stopped watching after Ep 4 just boring PC crap.

reply

Stopped after 2 episodes and I actually thought the ending to episode 2 was vintage Twilight Zone but overall the series just feels like any anthology series but Twilight Zone it is not. People complain about a whole bunch of things with this series but at the end of the day you're fooling yourself if you think this is Twilight Zone. If someone came in the middle of an episode, they wouldn't be able to tell if this was Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. That is the definitive problem to me. I'm not a fan of the other versions of TZ too for the same reason.

reply

Yeah it isn't TZ at all, it is something else entirely with the well known name tag attached.

reply

To further make my point, I'm a fan of Black Mirror and that show is regarded as a hit. If Black Mirror was instead called Twilight Zone and it was another attempt at a Twilight Zone series, I wouldn't like the show because nothing about it reminds me of the original Twilight Zone series at all.

reply

I'm watching it.

reply

still watching, but it has been very underwhelming so far.

reply

It's still getting renewed - so our opinion is kind of pointless.

reply

that is surprising.

"Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg's reimagining of The Twilight Zone is off to an amazing start on CBS All Access, driving the most viewers on its premiere day for an original series to date," CBS All Access executive vice president of original content Julie McNamara said in a blog post. "Jordan, Simon, the creative team and cast have done a phenomenal job translating the series' legacy of socially conscious storytelling for modern-day audiences. They are master storytellers, and we look forward to bringing fans further into The Twilight Zone with a second season."

reply

LOL

reply

maximmm, that's funny as fuck, and Julie McNamara's deluding herself if she thinks the writers have done a phenomenal job! Master storytellers... LMAO.

reply

Is it creepy or just a rip off of black mirror?

reply

I can't say it's a ripoff of Black Mirror but its production is very Black Mirror esque and they also are putting well known actors in the roles which I don't like. Old school Twilight Zone used lesser known actors which made the story feel more like it could happen to you or me.

reply

Ahh, I thought that might be the case. Thanks for your response. I'll probably just go and watch the black and white version

reply

Twilight zone used famous actors of the day.... Mickey Rooney and Burgess Merideth both already had established careers for instance.

reply

The majority were unknowns though.

reply

I have seen many famous actors on the old show. Think it's a part of all versions of the twilight zone

reply

It's not creepy at all and of the eps I watched before walking away they even lacked a twist or sense of irony. I haven't seen Black Mirror so can't answer the second part of your question.

reply

I was trying to watch it, but I watch most things on demand, and these ep. don't last longer than a week, so I kinda gave up.

reply

They should stop trying to re-create the original TZ. It was unique and way ahead of its time.

reply

So do you think they should not do the show at all, or just have more original type episodes?

reply

I would stop altogether.

reply

I think that we could use a tv show like it though. I love black mirror, and I like that they only put a few episodes a season, but I want more.

I don't know what would satisfy me. :)

reply

I watched the first two episodes of Black Mirror and didn't like it.

reply

National Anthem wasn't a great one, but I did like 15 million credits.

reply

I remember watching the first episode to Black Mirror years ago and not really liking it. At the risk of sounding like those crazy binge serial watchers, I strongly encourage you to keep watching. That first episode made me stop watching it for a year or two before coming back to it.

reply

maybe I will try again someday. thanks.

reply

I am still watching it. The episodes where they hit the audience on the head over some social issue (racism, male violence, treatment of immigrants) are painful to watch - for God's sake, try some subtlety for once, will you? - but if they are not preaching, they are decent stories.
