Do musicians understand this movie differently?

As someone who doesn’t understand music, I am often confused about what is wrong with what is being played. I don’t know if the drummer is playing wrong or if the conductor is only an asshole. Can people who understand music better comment on what is going on in the movie? Is Andy a good drummer? Is the conductor wrong to berate him?

I wonder if my brother would like this movie. He's a drummer and has played percussion in his school band for many years now.

I enjoyed this film immensely, but I never want to watch it again lol. Personally I'd say Andy is an amazing drummer.
