Actually no he was like that before, he's the same weight he was in the finest hours filmed months before this.

Heavier than when he was in Lone Survivior and The Mechanic. For sure. Last two films I saw him in anyway.

I'm NOT familiar with the actor, so can't imagine how thin he was before, if this is him fattened up, with lots of weight.

That was the first thing I thought of too when I first saw Foster in this film, that he'd put on weight. If I didn't know it was him, I might not have recognized him.

I too was thinking he must've gained weight for the role. Did he shave his hairline back to look like he's balding?
