His ex wife isn't that hot

I'm not gay but did anyone think he (Chris pine) was better looking than his ex?

reply

your impression, i'm sure, is per their intent. or rather, they didn't make her hot so as to not distract from the main plot point, that Pine was doing the crimes for his kids.

He had no relationship with this woman any longer, other than she is the caregiver to his kids.... They certainly made no effort to pretty her up with makeup... and if anything, they probably drabbed her down. She might be quite a looker in true life.

You may not have been TRYING to sound gay... however.. you succeeded my friend

reply

Really? Does your comment pass for humour or wit in some places?

It was a fair question. Anyone can objectively judge the relative attractiveness of two people, hence the expression 'he's punching above his weight'.

In this case, he was out of her league in the physical stakes.

The ex-wife was probably a hot young thing back in the day when they met in high school or whenever but most poor 30 something women living in some dust bowl town in West Texas with a couple of teenage sons is going to look rough. She looked about like what I would expect.

Yeah that was my reaction, too. A life like that can really take a toll on a woman's looks, and I thought it was refreshingly realistic that they portrayed her as a faded beauty who clearly cared not a damn for her former husband, rather than as a dirtied up version of Margot Robbie or somebody like that.

I doubt she was suppose to be eye candy

reply

She looked realistic. In real life not every woman is a super model. Especially not in dusty West Texas.

Pine has never looked better in any of his films. His looks here were at his peak, especially near the end - the tan, the unbuttoned black shirt, the groomed mustache, the combed back longer hair, & the sweaty glean - he looked like a model for some outdoors/cowboy magazine!
