Ben Foster is being criminally ignored

Ben Foster stole the show in this film for me. Jeff Bridges is getting all of the award buzz, but to me Foster's performance was far above his peers. Anybody else feel as though he deserves the nomination for Best Supporting?

Agree 100%. Jeff Bridges was great but Ben Foster was a revelation.

Well the Pine guy was no slouch, either. An allaround finely acted film - and it needed to be, with so much emphasis on character. The brothers in crime came off as reasonably sympathetic without sugar coating any of their actions or smoothing the rough edges of their characters... and that's no small feat.

Yeah but the Academy has an unwritten rule about not putting two males from the same film in the Supporting category, though through the years we´ve had several obvious ones we can call snubs;Milk(Brolin,Franco),Crash(Dillon,Howard,Cheadle)A history of Violence(Hurt,Harris)....

Bugsy in 1992 was the last time it occured. The ladies? Well,in the last 16 years;Almost famous,The help,The Fighter,Doubt,Gosford Park etc..don´t ask me why but it sure ain´t fair. I was rooting for Nocturnal Animals and this one getting two each, big surprise, they didn´t and was never going to.

Foster got 15 noms I think and the films ONLY two wins for best Film and Director came in Nevada and San Diego and despite all of Bridges wins, those two awarded Foster Best Supporting Actor, his only wins. An Oscarnom would´ve been great for his career but i think most see he was snubbed and he will probably get alotta great roles now.

Both Foster & Pine were flat out robbed. All 3 actors were deserving of Oscar noms; Bridges & Foster for bsa, and Pine for best actor, imo.

I personally never got or agreed with Pine being the lead and Bridges supporting,he had his own story,protagonist-status blurry...Foster supporting, sure, marginally compared to Pine but between the other two,it´s a toss-up.

Agreed! I like Jeff Bridges just as much as the next guy, but this wasn't a whole lot different than his performance from True Grit. Maybe a slight tweaking. That's all. Both other lead actors gave far more interesting performances, but Ben Foster was this movie.

Ben Foster always plays the same short-fuse/creep kind of guy

Yep, Foster took me by surprise and shone the most.

I think they Foster had a good amount of screen time.

They meant ignored with regard to award nominations and recognition for his performance.

Agreed. He stole "3:10 to Yuma" out from under Russell Crowe and Christian Bale (who were both pitch-perfect), but it was also the most colorful role in the movie. It was jarring to realize it was the same guy from the terrible goofy teen movie "Get Over It." His "3:10" and "Hell" characters were similar and he plays crazy and violent extremely well. Pine did a good job but Bridges and Foster were a cut above. Ditto Gil Birmingham as the most understated main character. Great movie all around.
