Are Old Gays Afraid of Sunlight?
Why?
shareThe joke is not that "Old Gays (are) Afraid of Sunlight" but rather that this couple are so cut off from the real world and live in their own little "closeted" sanctuary by shutting out everything, except bickering and sniping at one another, so that when Ash comes in to their life and brings a bit of sunshine, to much too soon of the modern world frightens them.
This done by drawing a parallel with with vampire the cliché, especially by parodying the relationship of LeStat and Louis in "interview with the vampire."
Okay?
God analysing a joke kills it dead.
Atheism is a religion in the same way that celibacy is a sexual position
...analysing a joke kills it dead.
I was just thinking it was for the same reason that Blanche Dubois (Streetcar Named Desire) did not like being seen in the light.....it exposed her aged looks.
The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news.
Also, older vain people tend to ignore light because it is less flattering and draws attention to wrinkles. Being that they both want to be youthful and attractive, they have shut out the harsh light of day

I remember on Will and Grace, when Jack's mother finds out he's gay Karen tells her its a good thing. When she's older a gay son will keep here away from "Chiffon and bad lighting".
sharePeople would literally leave the gay bar before they turned on the lights at closing time for the same reason. Unflattering light.
