Thank you, much appreciated. I listened to "The Big Ship" today but didn't check the rest of the album, will get a listen this week hopefully.
Never really listened to Brian Eno before, but even from one track it's apparent now that he's a big influence on alot of the artists that I do like, down to the smooth transition in the film to Explosions In The Sky.
I was also getting tones of Rez by Underworld when listening to The Big Ship and lo and behold Eno has done some work with Karl Hyde.
"I'll Come Running" has been my favorite song from my favorite album (Another Green World -1975) by my favorite artist (Brian Eno) for about 40 years. This movie uses many cuts from this album and another from 1974, "Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy)", plus a few others.
For this soundtrack to feel so fresh and influential, in a 2015 youth-oriented film, is a testament to Eno's innovative production techniques and his soundscape/songwriting skills. Most people, if they've heard of him at all, only know him from producing artists like Bowie, U2 or Talking Heads. That he practically invented Ambient music and influenced so many artists in other genres for an entire generation, is info sadly lacking in even the most knowledgeable of listeners.
It will be well worth your time to check into his solo recordings, and then move into musicians he's recorded with, like Robert Fripp, Jon Hassell, John Cale, etc.
And it looks like I'm going to be looking in on Underground and Karl Hyde. Been rambling a bit myself. Enjoy!
If you don't ever try to move . . you'll never notice the chains.
