how did she do those book carvings?

I had never seen anything like that before and was so fascinated by them! Anyone know how it's done?

Not sure, but I would imagine it takes a long time, alot of practice, some patience, a little imagination, and some sharp
razor knives.

Good luck.

I'm sorry baby, I had to crash that Honda.

A little Googling(TM) reveals some sites with carvings produced in the real world:*

https://speedendesign.wordpress.com/book-carvings/ - some rather impressive carvings here (and at the further link on that page). Technical fairly similar to what's in the movie, if not quite the same. Not a ton of discussion about technique, though.
http://www.odditycentral.com/tag/book-carving - different techniques from what we saw in the movie, though some or similar.
http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2011/12/carved-book-landscapes-by-guy-laramee/ - more from one the guys in the last link.
https://www.etsy.com/market/book_sculpture - if you're ready to do some shopping.

*Of course the props we see in the movie were produced in the real world by someone, if not the fictional character. I'm not sure who: the only article I found on the subject just says that they were produced by the movie's art department, and that the idea came from Luci Leary, the propmaster.
