Question about the blood (SPOILER) DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT!

SPOILER ALERT

Near the end of the movie, when Julia is on the guy's table, you see blood slowly start to come out of her mouth. Why was that? At first I thought it was because of that loud shot that was heard when the screen cut to black, just before she was seen on his table but you didn't see a bullet hole on her body. In fact, when she gets shot again by the guy, I didn't see much of a bullet wound either.
I must not have been paying very good attention but I was wondering if someone could answer this for me, thanks.

I assumed it was internal bleeding from him battering her with whatever he was using before he picked up the cleaver. Though it seems like he was bashing her in the legs instead of the torso.
