Maybe that could've attracted more viewers. Of course I would want Patrick to still end up with Richie, but what if?
shareMy understanding is that Russell Tovey auditioned for the part of Patrick using an American accent. As he was leaving Andrew Haigh asked him to do a scene in his native English accent. The role of Kevin was then written into the plot just for Tovey. So Tovey came before Kevin and no one else would most likely be considered for the role.
