A LOT better than I expected!

I feel like the majority of the posters missed the whole concept of the movie. It's a comedy, with horror elements. Yes it has zombies, but it is not meant to be a straightforward horror film. Have people never heard of Shaun of the dead? This totally reminded me of the humor in that: british humor in an american setting. I just really enjoyed the performances of pretty much every actor, especially Plaza. Deadpan must be her forte and so this was definitely right up my alley. Also, you can never go wrong with john c. Reilly and Molly shannon; they're two comedians I don't think I've ever been disappointed by. And last but not least, you can't forget Dane. I've only seen him in a few things, but he has something about him that just makes him very intriguing. He kind of reminds me of a younger Michael Pitt. Most of the talent in here was well-placed and I can't agree with the people claiming it was "wasted". Just don't take yourself or the movie, most importantly, too seriously and you just might enjoy this great
zombie rom com.

Final score? 10/10

It was a lot WORSE than I expected. It just felt like a lazy cash in on the popularity of other horror comedies and there's no way this can be compared with the likes of Shaun of the Dead or Zombieland. They didn't even TRY and make it funny.

If this is the best they can come up with then maybe they should leave horror comedies alone for now because they clearly have nothing new to offer the genre.

Thank you! I have seen so much undeserved hate for this movie, and I just do not understand it. It's very well written, witty, and even though I watched it alone, I was laughing my ass off

It is a rather decent film.

I didn't know what to expect. I ended up watching without any idea what it was even about. I inadvertently started playing it before I even read the description while browsing Amazon Prime on my Roku.

The supermarket scene was a promising indication that this movie might be what I was looking for in my current frame of mind. When John c. Riley answered the door in the beginning of the next scene, I figured that it was worth watching a few more minutes to see where it might be heading. I was committed once it became apparent that it was a black comedy with an absurdist bent. I did not expect zombies. What a pleasant surprise that was.

Lots of deadpan moments. One of my favorites was when Zach went looking for the Slocum's Haitian maid that quit the day Beth returned because he thought she might have had something to do with Beth's zombieism. Which of course sounds perfectly logical given the current situation. He goes to her apartment while the Zombie Apocalypse is in full swing. Her roommate answers the door telling Zach that she moved out a few days before and doesn't know where to. Zach explains why he must find her, the roommate becomes suddenly perturbed, taking offense at Zach's assumption that they know something about the ZA because they are Haitian.

Awesome, half-brained, late night entertainment. Anyone who takes this movie seriously is a *beep* idiot.

I've just watched this and I'm really surprise at the poor rating it has here and on Rotten Tomatoes. I thought it was great. One of those rare things. A one joke movie where the joke just keeps getting funnier as the movie plays on.

In fairness, it did take a little while to win me over but, once I was on board, it did not disappoint. The final death scene was particularly hilarious.

Only the closed mind is certain.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.

I liked it.

I see no reason why people feel the need to come up with a box to put a film in and then compare it to the other films they put into their fictitious and subjective box.

People should just enjoy each film as it comes. This is a stand-alone film. And yes, there have been other comedic zombie flicks out there, but this isn't the same as those. It's its own thing.

Now excuse me while I go listen to some smooth jazz. In my attic.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

Agreed. I'm really surprised at the number of posters on these boards who seemed to have been expecting some sort of full on zombie flick. Quite odd I would have thought.

Yes, Shaun of the Dead is the obvious immediate comparative vehicle, but I quite liked this film's clever piss-taking of teen rom-coms while at the same time working in the zombie genre.🐭

I really like the film as well found it extremely whitty with subtle dark humor. I've seen people complain about things that were clearly covered in the film. It is one of those films you have to give your attention to in order to catch everything. I would give a 7/10
