Zach in hospital in the beginning

There was a very short scene in the movie where we see Zach in some medical machine that looks like MRI or maybe even something for radiation treatment. I was thinking he has cancer or something and that it's going to be used later in the movie. But nothing. Like that scene was just there for nothing. Does anyone has clue why Zach was treated in hospital and from what?

His parents were testing him because he was talking about his dead girlfriend was resurrected. But I found it strange too, because there was hard evidence. She was not like a ghost or something. Going to the doctors instead of going to Beth's house was just stupid.

I'm sure his parents felt going to someone they knew and had recently lost their daughter to ask if she came back to life was pointless and tasteless.

His mom said that he'd been acting weird, and that maybe he needed to see a neurologist. Next scene, he's getting an MRI.

I agree wşth that however he shouldn't be moving during the process so we may assume this as a goof or smt.

I thought it was a commentary on how dysfunctional his family is. His psycho brother calls him psycho, his parents act like nothing happened and want him to see a neurologist.

The joke here is that he's in mourning - sending him to a neurologist implies that something is wrong with his brain, like a tumor or something. Instead being there for him or sending him to a grief counselor or therapist, they react completely wrong for the circumstance. His parents are kind of like zombies in a way.
