Karen Black

Although I thought her part in Ooga Booga was ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS, she was one of the bigger names and better actresses in the film. I read this article about her http://alienbee.net/exclusive-bts-interview-with-karen-black-who-talks-about-her-new-film-ooga-booga/ and wanted to share it. It is inspiring that Karen continues to work despite her battle with cancer. She is definitely an inspiration to me.

Ooga Booga is pretty bad, but for a buck or free, it could be worth your 75ish minutes.

Nope. This movie is not even worth the postage it would take to mail it to the city dump. I don't know who Charles Hand is and after watching this, I don't really care. The movie was neither funny nor frightening. What it was, was scurrilously racist, dull and extremely badly written (everyone told everyone else exactly what was on their minds without any subtext or subtlety) and most of the actors could not even deliver their lines convincingly. There is a line between parody and stupidity and this movie crossed it. As for Karen Black, while I admire her for working while she's battling cancer, she should choose her roles more wisely. She's always been a favorite of mine and it pains me to see her reduced to this.

Ooga Booga WAS pretty bad but worth the rental just to see Karen Black parody two of her notorious 70's characters. The name "Mrs. Allardyce" is borrowed from Burnt Offerings. Mrs Allardyce was the unseen mother in the upper bedroom. Karen Black's character in that film ultimately becomes Mrs. Allardyce. Also it was fun seeing her being chased by the Ooga Booga doll just like in the made-for-TV Trilogy of Terror. Karen even says "I saw this on the TV"!
