Love this show. What's with all the hate?

I've loved this show from the very first episode I saw. I like how it's unconventional and that there's finally a good show with female leads who like each other throughout the series in spite of their differences. (I know there's others like that, but they are still very few or not on air anymore). Recently I've noticed they've been getting a lot of hate.

Where is that coming from? Why do so many people feel the need to attack their body image when listing things they hate about the show? Are haters just more vocal than fans? I don't get it.

I adored this show seasons 1 and 2. I now hate-watch it....and I'm very sad about that. The quality of the writing, in my opinion, has deteriorated and the plot lines now seem to be a jumble of ridiculous scenarios tossed together for slapstick effect. The episode yesterday actually felt to me like there was no script at all...like they ad-libbed the whole thing. In previous seasons I loved how Abbi balanced out Ilana's irritating juvenile personality....but this season I think it's gone too far
...to the point that I don't believe these two would ever be friends....especially not friends who are meant to have met later in life. Maybe childhood friends who have a long history together but not ladies who met as adults. The show lost its way....and that sucks, dude.

Xanderpanda is on POINT. Perfectly stated. I think a good number of fans (my friends and I, at least) feel this way. There's still time for them to turn it around...I've got my fingers crossed for seasons 4 & 5. S3 has been thoroughly 'meh' thus far.

This is the first criticism I've seen that doesn't pick on trivial stuff. I love it when a show is able to embrace change, but maybe that's not for everyone. However, I haven't noticed any dramatic changes in the writing this season like you have. Thanks for giving a constructive answer. Gave me something to think about. :)

Season 3 is a lot less funny, but the last episode in the plane is a masterpiece !

I find most eps of Season 2 very re-watchable and laugh-out-loud funny, particularly Knockoffs, Hastag FOMO, Kirk Steele, Mochalatta Chills and Wisdom Teeth.

I was getting worried about season 3 because I didn't laugh much during the first three episodes, but Rat Pack redeemed the entire season for me. Other than Rat Pack, I haven't found myself re-watching any of the season 3 episodes yet, whereas I re-watched multiple eps of season 2 and really like a handful of season 1 eps (Stolen Phone and The Last Supper being my favorites from season 1).

Overall, still love the show. Probably my favorite discovery of the last two years. I always find the comparison to Girls humorous, as Girls to me is much more of a drama with comedic elements.

If you haven't watched this week's episode yet, I really liked it. However, I think some people feel that it skewed a little too far into the dramedy territory, and the multiple episode build-up of the Abbi/Trey relationship and subsequent change in the Ilana/Lincoln relationship does feel different from the usual, zany antics that allow the first seasons' episodes to be watched out of order.

And any comments about their bodies are ridiculous, they both look great.

I'm glad that they showed a different side of Ilana. I would say it was one of the best episodes of the show. It had more depth than any other.

The show is as great as it ever was. There's too much negativity in general on iMDB (don't go to the Rogue One board if you're a woman. Or decent human being)

I agree. IMDB has gotten a lot more ... abusive ... is the best word I can think of to describe the way people talk to each other. Civility has gone out the window on many boards, and you can get into open chat warfare and drawn into nasty dramas if you defend your opinion.

They used their show as a political platform in a hotly contested primary season.

That's likely the prime source of the hate rationalized in other guises.

I *beep* love this show and wouldn't say theres been any decline, i still laugh every episode, The only episode I didnt like was the hilary clinton episode. It was a good episode made me laugh here and there but I think hilary is a Kunt so thats prob why i disliked it maybe.

I agree, I loved the first 2 seasons and this one had kinda dropped off my watch list until the Blake Griffin episode. It grossed me out in the beggining but it was well worth it.
