Abbi and Ilana are not particularly funny,

I don't find the girls all that funny although I kind of like the show and find the situations they get into kind of funny and their stupidity is what makes the show kind of funny. I like it but I aint crazy about it. It's also sleazy here and there to try and give it some kind of hip edge but it just comes off awkward and forced. I've seen the two girls on talk shows and watching them interviewed really points out how really unfunny the two actresses are. They come off like two high school girls who just took an improv class. The show does have some potential and there is something amusing about the two of them together going on their adventures in that great city, I just wish they were both funnier. I'll give it some more time.

Write a better show so you don't have to dumb yourself down and watch this hilarious trash, like us peasants.

You *beep* .

cool story, bro

I always find it funny when it says "Post deleted" under a comment. People are so stupid they can't really handle it if somebody has a different opinion than themselves. Why would that really bother anybody?

reply

You deleted your own post ranting about millenials and their opinions differing from yours LOL.

reply

Huh?

reply

That's what I said when I saw your rant. You even edited it. But if you wanna play dumb play it.

reply

Boy you are really mad. Do I have to like everything you like?

reply

I saw what I saw. You posted something and deleted it for some reason and then made a comment about it to make your thread look better. And frankly I would have agreed with your initial OP comment but what you subsequently did made me not want to contribute my opinion and just point out your attention-seeking behavior.

reply

Attention seeking behavior? How much attention could I possibly get on a Broad City message board on IMDB? I don't need attention anyway, I'm way beyond that. Thank you for telling me you agreed with my initial post. Now by the way, what do you do? An artist of some sort? If I wanted attention I would go on to a more popular message board, like maybe one for "Happy Days", I could say something very negative about FONZIE !!

reply

Omfg. HAPPY DAYS?? Get a REAL LIFE, or go live in your lame ass 70's comedies. You ARE attention seeking, and a troll.

What is a Troll anyway? Can't I have an opinion that is different than yours? What makes you so angry? I am very calm. I think I will watch a little television with my cat. Maybe I'll make some Pop Tarts.

reply

Love the presumptions. Maybe I am a millennial arteeest.

reply

What's your favorite movie of all time?

reply

Still not funny.

reply

Say what?

reply

I agree with you.

Only people watching it are female millennials who relate to the girls. If you're a guy or older, it's going to be a hit n miss for you sort of.
The girls liking this show probably don't really find it funny either, but most of them WANT to find it funny because it's trendy right now.

reply

try harder

What about the forests?...... NOPE!

reply

Don't need to.

By your reply, I can guess you're female who 'relates' to the show, and love telling your friends how much you like it. Good for you.

BUT it's not funny.

..

BUT it's not funny.

For YOU.
Humor is an individual taste and you have to admit that OTHERS find it funny.

reply

Yeah. I watched one last night and again, not funny. Doesn't mean I hate the show or the girls, but they really aren't all that funny. Now I'm gonna have some Pop Tarts.

reply

lol I'm male
I wouldn't say I relate to the show in an extraordinary way, I just find it funny.
And I also don't criticize people for enjoying a comedy that I don't find funny, you should try it sometime.
No one likes a negative nancy

What about the forests?...... NOPE!

reply

Not funny. Who's Nancy?

reply

Debbie downer's cousin

reply

I'm a 52 yo Female and I love the show. Reminds me of my carefree crazy days when I was in my 20s. Back in the 80s I let myself get involved in ridiculous situations all the time.

"I'm in a glass case of emotion!"

reply

I'm a 52 year old man and I sort of do like it, but something is just missing. Lucy and Ethel were much funnier.

reply

Middle aged woman here too and I get such a kick out of it! I can relate to certain things - weed, hook-ups, random crazy stuff!

reply

Abbi and what's her name were on Stephen Colbert last night and I gotta tell ya, they were NOT FUNNY. See if you can find it on Youtube or something, they were INCREDIBLY unfunny. I like Abby on Broad City, I don't think she's all that funny I just kind of like her.

reply

They were being interviewed on a variety show, not doing a comedy bit.

Not necessarily. I'm a 50 year old woman, and I love it. So does my 48 year old boyfriend, his mid 20's son, the son's early 20's girlfriend, and our 30's female roommate. It's one of the very few shows that everyone in our household makes an effort to watch as soon as a new episode is released.

reply

I'm a 23 year old guy and I think it's hilarious.

reply

31 year old guy, this show is my new favorite sit-com. I find Abbi funnier than Illana, like when ever she's tweaking, but also faking phone calls when the hot neighbor talks to her, or how she has a secret identity as a lounge singer.

reply

They're not funny. They're fun. I think it's appeal is actually to be heartwarming and it does quirky situations and subdued irreverence well. But is anything on Comedy Central actually funny? At least it lasted more than two seasons.

But is anything on Comedy Central actually funny?

Yes, quite a few things.
The Daily Show pulled in huge ratings and The Colbert Report launched Colbert into the CBS spot.
Amy Shumer and Key and Peel are getting huge national buzz.

@Midnight always has some improvisational (or preplanned) guffaws.

I don't really like Amy Schumer or Key and Peele. The news-style programs usually have some laughs in them. I used to like Workaholics but that jumped the shark.

Well, the point was that I agreed with the OP, they're not really funny. I don't really find any of the shows on Comedy Central very funny.

reply

27 year old male here. I love the show, and I relate to it a great deal, but I do agree that the two girls aren't the funniest people in the world.

I find the majority of the humour stems from the situations they find themselves in and the excellent supporting cast. Bevers, Lincoln and Trey are hilarious, but perhaps my view is skewed due to their lack of screen time.

Eps when its basically 21 mins of abbi-ilana-abbi-ilana banter can be a little hit or miss.

Otherwise a fantastic show!

when u think of garbage, think of akeem

Idk man it makes me laugh ¯\_(?)_/¯

reply

Yeah, this entire show is not that funny to me, my sister just turns it on, on Hulu.. Seems more like "White" millennial humor.. I do find the random unimportant situations "cute" though.. Lol..
