If you initiate the bullying, then...

the person you've bullied figures out a way to give you a taste of your own medicine; I'm sorry but you forfeit the right to claim sympathy for your actions on the grounds of being bullied.

Brandon McInerney initiated the pattern of bullying when he physically picked on Larry King, had he not done that then none of this would have happened. Simple as that. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

I think you got the names mixed up.

reply

Nope, according to their classmates, Brandon physically picked on Larry. So when Larry figured out a way to give Brandon a taste of his own medicine, instead of Brandon learning his lesson, he kills the kid.

reply

Yeah the timeline/time span is all wrong: I don't think this tragedy occurred in just the two weeks after Xmas break...it was the culmination of several other incidents which transpired at least a year before the murder (Brandon's bullying of Larry).

reply

Nowhere in the documentary does it state or infer that Brandon physically picked on Larry prior to the shooting.

imply, not infer

So now the Larry crowd admits he was harassing Brandon, but have made up an excuse to justify it. Nice.

imadbasayev: If Larry was "harassing" Brandon simply by saying aloud that he liked B., then every hetero boy and man who has made/makes advances to some woman he fancies is in for a lot of trouble.

There is NOTHING WRONG with a person simply expressing to the object of his affection that he is interested in him/her or that he finds him/her attractive. Period. Virtually every girl/woman out there has said to some man, at least once in her life, and with a polite smile, "Thanks, but I'm not interested" (or some variation thereupon). And I don't know of any hetero woman who has assaulted or killed a lesbian who expressed interest that wasn't reciprocated.

So when Larry figured out a way to give Brandon a taste of his own medicine, instead of Brandon learning his lesson, he kills the kid.
But, bakedlogic, Larry wasn't trying to give Brandon a taste of his own medicine -- he was expressing interest in B.

Plus, I question your "taste of his own medicine" logic in a situation in which a victim turns on the bully; victims have the right to redress and the right to get authorities to halt the victim, but "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind," as the saying goes. Retaliating in kind is not the way to go.
