Some thoughts...

Or conjecture, or facts. Whatever.

Larry was at Casa Pacifica for a while. I lived and worked for the Ventura County school district. I can tell you that Casa Pacifica was never simply a home for abused and neglected kids. That is perhaps what it is now, or it is the PC term for that place. The kids I had contact with were criminals. They were no longer incarcerated at a juvenile detention center, but they needed to live in a place where they could be "cared for" and "watched." Not saying Larry himself was there because he was a criminal. Just sayin'.

In another post it was said that Larry had ADHD. That was why he had an IEP. I am a special ed. teacher and yes, an IEP is a legally binding document. The teacher who gave him the dress, was perhaps determined to be encouraging behavior that was supposed to be worked on, and "curbed" as per the IEP. This is most likely why she was terminated and has not returned to teaching.

I wonder why we didn't see anyone from Larry's family in the film. They should get a public beating for abusing that kid.

Brandon's family, same thing. His low life drug addict mother, his abusive father, his half brother that turned him toward that "white separatist" guy.

I thought of the following words as I saw this movie, "one guy's wasted and the other's a waste."

The world is not as open and tolerant as some of us believe it should be. Fact of life. Larry had every right to be as flamboyantly gay as he wanted to be, and Brandon had every right to find it disgusting. That didn't make killing him justified.

And yes, I believe it was first degree murder, committed by a stupid 14 year old kid. Two lives and two families destroyed. Should he have gotten life? I dunno. Think about all the other murderers out there who take a plea deal and get out of prison in 10 years.

Bleeding heart liberals all the way around in this film. The female jurors, Brandon's lawyers, etc.

And, I'll be damned, teachers in CA make $55 an hour? HOLY HELL! I'm living in the wrong state!

This film is on youtube, albeit with dutch texts and subtitles...

Your post seems to ramble quite a bit without saying much but you did NOT understand what you were watching if you think the female jurors were "bleeding heart liberals."
