Who cares? You take all of the Miyazaki Sr. and Takahata movies out of the canon, and Ghibli is good, not great. Unless those two continue making movies (and for how long could they even if they wanted to?) Ghibli ain't nothing but a name. Nobody has given any indication yet that they can replicate the work of those two, so if it's going to end it's fine by me if it ends with them.

Fans of movies should care.
People said the same thing after the death of Walt Disney and the 9 Old Men, but Disney continued and produced some of its best work.
Studio Ghibli can do the same.
