This season lacks

The humor of the previous two...

These guys just can't catch a break this season also. It's a downward spiral and kinda bumming me out because I'm not enjoying this season as much.

I suppose every show has its off season though. I'll chalk it up to that.

Richard is just a stubborn idiot. Rather than figure out a way to simplify the platform to make it usable for the lay-person, he just wants to up and quit. And no one has the balls to say why don't we simplify it (for regular folks).

But this is also Monica's fault for not saying something sooner. She works at a tech company and if she was confused, how did it not occur to her that the average user wouldn't be?

I love this show, but damn I was waiting for Gilfoyle or Erlich to say something and they just sat there.

Actually hearing how it works would make me not want to use it, but then, I have nothing in what could be considered a cloud and all my backups are on hard wired devices stored in secure locations. I am the consumate old-school luddite. The idea of a 300 million device raid server would scare the bejezus out of me.

My Chimp DNA seems to have lost its password temporarily. Sluggr-2

I totally understood how it all worked, but will also never use a cloud to store my information either, so I feel you completely.

In further news: Amish don't use cars.

Re: johnsonium......I live near Amish country. You would be surprised what they do/don't do now. Most Amish today are about as "Amish" as the new Pope is traditional Catholic.

"Hey, shut up in there, I'm trying to type....." OT: Do the voices in my head bother you?

reply

I use cloud storage and I would use this app, but what bothers me about this season is they would have potential commercial customers bombarding them to license this tech and hypothetically would have more trouble counting their money at this point. Not be circling the drain as a company.

reply

In case you missed it, they mentioned they ran out of money and thus can't hire people to simplify it.

The truth is, you don't have any idea how often what happened on this show happens in real life. People work on things and don't bother to properly show it to non specialist and then fall flat on their faces.

This is partially what bothered me about this season -
Laurie was actually right.

Richard is a genius when it comes to tech, but he is an abysmal businessman and needs to be replaced in the company. The thing he mostly cared about is his own ego that he got kicked out of CEO of his own company and I'm not trying to say that it wouldn't be a hurtful thing. But him being CEO isn't good for the company.

As the season later showed, the box guy was right and he brought in the money.

Some people are mad scientist and artists, but they don't know much about developing products.

This has been the BEST season thus far IMO.

It's impossible, but I will do it--The Walk.

reply

I don't know. They really held Erlich back this year too, he hasn't really been the in your face, *beep* type I'm used to

reply

True enough, but I can see the beginning of an Erlich - Laurie romance brewing (did you catch the sparks between them at the countdown party?), which could lift us out of the doldrums toot sweet.

reply

I actually came here to say the same thing - not as funny. And I already noticed that Erlich was subdued.

I think a loose calculation of humor time vs. drama time would reveal that this season was less funny by design. It just had a lot more drama moments, when the electric piano theme comes in.

A mistake IMO. Not that it isn't still great. And there were some truly funny moments. But the shift towards drama indeed, as you noted, just made this season less fun.

And it wasn't just Erlich's character that took a hit. Jared was subdued as well. That character is a goldmine of hilariousness. But he was a buzzkill in S3.

I don't get it. Hope they get funny again in S4.

Sorry, but I don't agree. I think we saw new facets of Jared's personality and all of them were pretty funny.

The same old Jared in each season would get old, IMHO.

Agreed. When Dinesh lost his hard drive in the equipment sale in S3E5, Jarad said "We just meed to find it. I found my retainer in the school dumpster, I found my biological father in a militia up in the Ozarks..."

Woah.

Jared certainly has some skeletons in his closet, and I look forward to more clues about them.
