S3 started well, ended BADLY

For a genius, Richard can be a bit of a tool. Why not just re-adjust the interface to make it intuitive?

The whole Pied Piper project pretty much crashed and burned after three seasons following their journey. Not cool.

Also, the number of stupid things the characters do is also growing tiresome. Gilfoyle aside, half the characters just ended up being annoying, Richard especially. Turned into a bigger douche than Elrich.

Spoken like someone who has never participated in anything related to software development.

I know you've had a rough time.

There are two types of people, those who write books and those who read them. Those who just read them tend to be more demanding.

Years ago I was having an argument with a peta person, and their position was that we don't need to do research, we should just look stuff up in a book. Possibly one of the stupidest people I ever talked to. ;-)

My Chimp DNA seems to have lost its password temporarily. Sluggr-2

Arguing with someone on the internet is like running a race in the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded.

Dude you are absolutely right. You know its bad when you are rooting for the protagonist to just fail and end his damn miserable life. Richard sucks so damn bad. And the whole cycle of 'good new idea, *beep* happens, with some luck they survive/a good thing happen and *beep* happens again. Using the same formula over and over again, its just bad.

It actually is just like Entourage, though entourage stayed fresh at least until the 4/5th season, Silicon Valley got bad after just the first.

It's obvious that they rely on weak writing to keep the drama/failures in the show coming. I mean, nobody with Richard's genius could be this short-sighted and stupid sometimes.
Like the OP said, simply changing the original program to be more user friendly, instead of going the long way around the world, and educating all users about how they should adjust to YOU, was idiocy at it's finest. Nobody making a mistake like that, should be running anything, let alone a potential billion-dollar company.
The few cosmetic tweaks the focus group complained about could have been remedied in DAYS by Gilfoyle and Dinesh, with just a minimum of added programming. The program functioned perfectly. It just needed to be more user-friendly and explanatory.

The writers of this show, are Richard personified. Genius sometimes, dunces other times.

"Hey, shut up in there, I'm trying to type....." OT: Do the voices in my head bother you?

reply

Oh dear lord... Where do I even begin here...

These are not tiny cosmetic changes. If you missed the entire point of the focus group, people didn't understand anything about the app and what the point of it actually is.

These are more than just a few minor graphical twitches. The attempt to put that stupid clipper version of Pied Piper logo was their attempt at simplifying the UI, but they were out of funds and it's the best they could have pulled off.

Also, while I agree with you that this proves that Richard isn't a good CEO, you have no idea how many apps are released like that in real life. Yes, these things happen. A LOT more than you think.

reply

It's not that the UI is bad; it's that the concepts are so advanced people can't understand them.

What they should have done to solve it is have Richard do a couple of Ted Talks and put them on youtube.
