A few hours after the season finale

and I can count the number of new posts one one hand. Contrast that with the thousands of new posts on the GoT board in the same time-frame.

I guess this show has reached its zenith - a show just barely good enough to get renewed.

I think this show is awesome m and hopefully has a long future as long as they're putting out quality like this

reply

Popularity doesn't equal quality. GOT is crap. I don't know why you're even comparing the two. One is a big budget fantasy show, the other is a small budget comedy.

It's impossible, but I will do it--The Walk.

Well, you would think the GoT lead-in would help at least a bit. I'm actually one of the dozens of viewers for Silicon Velley

reply

They are completely different show and it's Sunday night and people have to work tomorrow. So while people might watch Silicon Valley, they may not watch it live because really, who is talking about Silicon Valley at work?

So this is better than GOT? I enjoy both shows but can clearly see which one is better. This show has the main characters failing almost constantly which gets irritating as hell. Maybe if Richard didn't drive most people nuts with his clumsiness and stupidity, this show would be better

There is a such thing as subjectivity you know. IMO Game of Thrones is pathetically bad. It hits you over the head with it's politics, it's "edginess", the fact it kills off lead character after lead character to create tension instead of doing it organically, it's rape story lines, it's misguided and uneven attempts to try to be both fantasy and a realistic portrayal of mid evil politics at the same time , etc.

Again its' kind of pointless comparing a low budget sitcom to a super high budget fantasy though.

Its based on a book...

reply

Oh damn.. Based on a book, huh..? Amazing stuff

reply

I love both shows but can't watch them back to back. They are just too different. I am not in the mood for comedy after GoT. After the big GoT finale, I had to take a tv break.

This board has never been nearly as active as Game of Thrones so why would tonight/today be any different. Now I will say I'm a bit surprised their isn't more chatter but still, not that unusual.

GoT is spew for the sub-par masses. This show is written smarter, for the most part, and doesn't rely on total fantasy to get viewers. That would be like comparing Citizen Kane to Debbie Does Dallas. Both have reasons for being produced, but one in no way is superior to the other, simply because a certain segment of the population liked it.

Got to agree with you here, Debbie Does Dallas blows Citizen Kane out of the water.

Debbie Does Dallas blows Citizen Kane out of the water.

I see what you did there.

The amount of posts on GoT crashed IMDb.

Not too surprising. GoT's popularity works against it on the boards because there is too much dreck posted. Half the posts are people flirting with each other, it even continues at a high rate long after the season is over. When I just want to read good comments about the show, there is all this crap to sift through.

I think GoT has some great elements, it has cinematic blockbuster production values, great music, and really good acting by its mostly British cast. The penultimate episode had one of the greatest battle scenes I've ever watched.

There is no reason a fantasy show can't be good. But I wish GoT wasn't quite so popular. I think the conflict and violence is what makes it popular.

reply

Thank god it doesn't have a lot of viewers. I'd hate for this to turn into one of those mainstream shows everyone talks about.

I know you've had a rough time.

I think Rake (AU) is the best show on TV right now and there are literally 2, possibly 3 people on IMDB who discuss it. The masses wouldn't like SV because SV points out to them that they are in fact the ignorant masses, if they even get that in the first place. So many beuatiful moments in the finale. Was watching in a coffee shop and a person came over afterwards to ask me what was so LOL funny. Even the cheesy parts like Jared hitting his head were great.
