Loved it!

I loved this series and really hope they make another one.

I watched a lot of last night's episodes (the final) on the edge of my seat.

It's a very intense and atmospheric series and there is so much more to find out about the characters.

Excellent!

Ended up not bothering with the first episode on BBC4, despite having heard that it had gone down really well when shown in Wales. But, I watched the second episode on bank holiday Monday and I'm glad I did... It's not wildly original and the "noir" thing really is being done to death at the moment. But, it's very well-made and properly draws you in - I'm enjoying it. Though, y bwrdd croeso must be tearing their hair out... Having studied in Lampeter, I know what a gorgeous part of the world it is. But, the producers are definitely highlighting the bleak and gloomy aspects of the area... Surprised during episode three on Monday by how much of the Welsh I was managing to understand... I never got anywhere near as fluent as I would have liked and, what with one thing and another, haven't had any opportunity to use what I did learn for 18 years. So, it was nice to realise that I haven't completely forgotten everything.

It is good to see kin (as we call them here) watching it and liking it.

Kind of feel the barren or 'bleak' spots are there to show us something, not literally, but how he could feel, but why? Stripped of emotion (trees) with raging water all around and cavernous pits, the slippery slopes, and ledges that with one false misstep can be fatal.

And that's why I can't believe Netflix has no closed captions! One actually needs it. I listened this morning to an end of conversation between him and his assistant (three times) and didn't get it. All I got was something about the devil still being there or something like that. Of course the devil is still there, It's everywhere. But so is the Holy Spirit and hopefully when the case is solved He can revitalize the countryside as it is beautiful with or without Him because He's in all things that are beautiful... even if not flashy beautiful.

I also love the natural casting. They're very real to life folk. Blue collar as well as the upper crust folks. I can't wait to watch more.

Seems like another wonderful UK series - we've watched a number now: Silk, Broadchurch, Midsomer Murders and others but the biggest fault for us is having to really concentrate on what the characters are saying because the English they're using sounds like they've got a mouthful of porridge! Hinterland's Tom Mathias I can understand without a problem some others are unintelligible. And the audio is simply unacceptable - the voices are not audible enough until you turn up the receiver volume and then the background sounds are intolerably loud - so loud you have to turn down the volume and lose the voices again. I'd like to turn on the CC but then I have to concentrate on the captions and lose the effect of the video itself... Don't know if it's a Netflix problem or the audio attributes of the original film. Anyway, we will try to keep watching the episodes as the series is really quite excellent otherwise.

Don't see anything "noir" about it.

Agreed. A great series so far. I also agree with the other respondent about the need for an occasional subtitle.

It is for English/Welsh speakers, not American speakers. Learn to use rewind. Get over it. Clean your ears out. The world does not really revolve around you lot. Sorry.
