Why should Moriarty be sorry?

Poor old Moriarty let his best mate have his one true love to the point he is best man at their wedding and then has to take *beep* for still being in love with her? I know he should have mentioned it earlier but its not always as simple as that, complicated feelings involved. I just thought finon could have been more sympathetic to the situation.
