Why did his story to his wife not match Leach's to the Police man?
i.e He said they were training ANA and 4 turned on them and he had to get info from one....
Leach said they were trying to exfil a high value target and were under heavy contact so had to interogate him on the spot for info on an attack on the UK mainland......

I think they were two different incidents.
The one he was telling his wife about was not long before his parents were killed. He was locked up for going too far in the interrogation, but escaped to get home.
The incident the colonel was telling the police chief about was an earlier incident (think leach said 2009), but was just an example of why Vickers shouldn't be taken into police custody, because he was important to the security of the country.
