Confused

I thought this was brilliant tv and was so powerful and emotional. I just am confused with the crash itself, which im sure will be carified in the next episode (if what i'm saying is correct)...
Tom overtook the red car and ended up smashing head on to an upcoming car. I assume Ethans car would have hit the back of Toms and caused them to crash too.

But after the crash, why was it just two cars? what happened to the car they hit head on (as im sure they would have been pretty fatal too) and if Ethans car hit Toms, the red car was between them so why wasn't that one inolved too?

i havent watched the second episode yet but i feel as equally confused. it happened really quickly and the visuals made it hard to tell what was going on.

i also thought it was weird that ashley didnt receive any medical attention, even though she looked fine. to my understanding everyone involved in a car accident is taken to the hospital.

I think there was just confusion. Remember there were eight people injured and the paramedics were swamped. Only the fireman noticed her and he assumed she was okay as she was walking around and lucid. Just an unfortunate case of her being missed by the paramedics, who were concentrating on treating those who were obviously seriously injured and probably weren't even aware of her existence.

The police did mention that the oncoming car that Tom hit (a silver 4x4) had been found and the driver was being treated, but was not seriously injured. I agree with you about the lack of explanation. What I assume happened, since he was also charged with causing death by dangerous driving, was that Ethan followed Tom in overtaking the red car and hit the rear of Tom's car when Tom crashed. But it was odd that the red car, whose driver was clearly a complete idiot, was never mentioned. Maybe he managed to brake in time and just drove off before the police arrived.

It certainly wasn't made clear was it? Your suggestion is as good as anything I can come up with. Excellent TV though, superb performances by all involved.

james-337 is right - They have mentioned that the oncoming car was a silver 4x4 and the driver is recovering. As you can imagine, a 4x4 would have no much impact against these small cars
