Bizarrely Bad - From An Asylum Fan

In my 30+ year love affair with bad disaster movies, this is the first one I truly did not comprehend. This is The Room of D-Day flicks. I keep thinking there has to be some explanation for its existence but I can't find any. I've seen, and enjoyed a lot of really terrible movies, most with the knowledge they were self-financed, insurance scams or vehicles to showcase one's trophy wife, but this doesn't appear to be the case in this instance. The only scenario I can think of is:
an "alternative lender" gave someone, (producer?) the money to make this for whatever reason. That person spent it all on drugs, entirely ignoring the project until the collection agents showed up & gave him 24 hrs to make something or become fish-food himself. Said person went to his friend, a porn film maker and borrowed his cast, camera & boom mike. Shot 20 minutes of dialogue then gave it to his nephew at a magnet-arts junior high for budding cinematographers, who then created the "special effects" and edited the entire thing on his laptop, using stock footage for the remaining 90 minutes.

That would be a better movie than this is.

Wut? Never heard of that! Do you happen to have examples for this?

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefsī²
