was she pregnant?

toward the end of the film, she takes a home pregnancy test.
not sure if i missed something or if it is left open ended or...
what do you guys think? was she pregnant ? and if so , was it her late husbands baby or dude from the sex party?

reply

yeah..i think it leaves that unanswered.by the way she behaves ,it kind of seems like she is pregnant.also we don't know if she is going to hawaii.before her friend with the kid comes, she was booking a ticket.the movie leaves a lot of things unanswered.probably because it is not the way we have to think.looking for an easy way out.she has to face the tragedy no matter what.let's not forget that she did all these things in two weeks...it was more of a reaction than a way of life.the movie just follows her reaction.what happens next..

Here's another unanswered question -- why would a TV weatherman leave a job in the Washington, D.C. market for Hawaii? Isn't that a downward move?

reply

Excellent meteorologists do NOT get excited over a permanent Hawaiian placement, when the D.C. market is HUGE and demands a total pro who becomes a local celebrity. Six-figues down to five, instantly.

One can vacation to Hawaii while keeping an upper-crust job. So I can't imagine they'd be excited over a career move out of the contiguous states...other than preferring sunny weather over steady income?? At 31+, you'd think they would be thinking seriously about financial security/stability. Their excitement would be more in line with a college kid who wants to manage a surf shop.

And like most things in this film, it's never explained or discussed.

Unanswered questions are not signs of creative writing or thoughtful art.

Washington DC is ironically quite provincial. If you have come to DC from NYC it is shocking how backwards a tow it is.

It makes sense when you realize DC is essentially tens if not hundred of thousands of bureaucrats, the most boring people on earth.

And Hawaii is infinitely more interesting, not to mention beautiful. Being a weather aster in DC is about the bottom of the barrel.

As far as per capita income in the DC metro region, after cost of living it is jut middle range. Hawaii on the other hand scores number one place sot live in the US on all various happiness indexes.

You would have to be a moron to want to have a weather caster job in DC over Hawaii.
