shareDo none of you realize how expensive travelling to those far out places is? Yes, the tv producers pay for it while the show lasts but normally they would have to cover those expenses themselves.
Also take into account how much the money they pay is worth in countries with low wages & living expenses.
Do you really think that the gemstones of the jewellery you wear earned the people who actually mined those gems any more money than they received from the gem hunters?
You should never accidentally hurt someone's feelings, it should be done with intent and purpose
It's scripted. I'm sure they paid the "miners" for their time.

I'm also in the business and you have no idea what their cost are. They are exaggerating their profits quite a bit. By the time they have paid their expenses
travel cutting the stones import duties taxes on income and many other expenses
including bribes in most 3rd world countries it's not as much as you would think.
Not saying they're not making money but there are many hands reaching out for a slice of the pie. You should be more worried about how those people are treated by
the local big boys they give them even less. It may be reality TV but there isn't much real about it they script it to up the drama because that is what sells.
