Canceled BUT May Continue Elsewhere - Vote Here if You Want a Season 4

Quite a few articles are quoted saying things about shopping Tyrant around for a new home like this is from tvseriesfinale.com :

In a statement, Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke, said, “We feel the show is a gem and we’d love to find a way to keep it in production. That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects. So for its loyal audience, tonight’s episode will be a satisfying end should the series not find another home, but also provides interesting possibilities should we be able to continue on some other platform.”

What do you think? Should it have been cancelled? Would you watch a fourth season of Tyrant on a another channel?

If you click on this link, you'll come to the article which contains that ^^^ quote including the end "What do you think?" which is linked so that if you click it, the voting page will appear. So far, 87% would tune in somewhere for Season 4.

I hope Netflix picks it up. Or, somewhere it will be given freedom from censorship based on sensitivities of any sort.

ETA: I have no idea if voting on that site is going to affect any change or even be seen by anyone making decisions.

Given the series finale, could that have been a hint from the writers about the power of twitter to make a strong public statement?

LOL, but #SaveTheTyrant doesn't "play" very well, does it? Is there already a hash tag thing out there for saving this series? If not, what hash tag would you suggest?

Apparently you are in good company. The ratings fell sharply.

I wondered if that was about religious pressure because the series wasn't putting out the usual depictions of Muslims. There's been a long history of conflict between religious agendas and creative freedom, not just Charlie Hebdo.

Wow, I just checked the spelling for Hebdo, I keep getting it turned around, and

only 3 hours ago, The Wire reported this:

A Digital Reboot for Urdu Journalist Hounded Over Charlie Hebdo Cartoon

So sad that this is still going on. And, outrageous. And, dangerous.

I guess I liked this series because as someone whom is no fan of Islam, but whom loves other people despite such differences, I felt comforted by the sheer auditory and visual depictions of Muslims discussing the concerns for safety of themselves, their children and of others. Like everyone else in the world does. But, that depiction is virtually nonexistent in any media, so kudos to Tyrant.

Perhaps if they don't find a new home it will at least inspire a like-minded, courageous, fair spin-off.

I just finished watching it. Had a busy summer.

I would agree that it got silly. Too many characters took too many radical personality changes. While admittedly poetic, it was a bit heavy handed that Barry became the "Tyrant".

His wife was already unlikable, then becomes the ice queen. Jamal's son is actually Barry's, his real son becomes a paraplegic...it seemed to become a daytime soap.

I will not miss it, in this state.

reply

Strangely enough, I miss it. Season 3 was a dog's breakfast as soon as they killed Jamal off, and in such a pitiful manner, but I'm sad it's over. I liked the look of the show, and really wanted to see the general get decapitated.

reply

I stopped watching after S03E01. I could foresee it turning into a soap opera.

reply

Netflix now has so much of their own Original Content that's hugely popular, they no longer have to save other Networks scraps.

I liked Tyrant, but it really looks like it's over.

AmazonPrime also doesn't really need it, they are also concentrating on their own Productions. That leaves only Hulu as a potential major streaming outlet.

reply

Amazon has had several good shows they have cancelled themselves. I can see them picking up the show for rebroadcast but not for new episodes.

reply

That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects.
That line there is the one to focus on. That's not the sound of someone who thinks the show has a chance in hell of returning on any channel.

I don't see any other channel picking up a show that had such a small following. Odds it's finished for good? 99.9%. Stick a fork in Tyrant. It's done.

And as for my vote? No. Let it die. I have always maintained that it would have been a great show had it ended after Season 1. Perfect ending - showing that the 'good guy' doesn't win - especially in politics and in that area of the world. Season 2 was okay. But this year I watched mainly out of loyalty and to see what happened. It being as summer show was another reason I tuned in. Not much else going on. Had this show come back in the fall, I doubt I'd have watched Season 3.

I say, let it go.

reply

I want 2 more seasons

I guess that is why they killed so many characters this season.

One more season is good enough to finish the story.

I'll pass..

reply

I'd watch it if it was aired on a channel I already have. I wouldn't pay more to add another cable network just for Tyrant.

reply

I wouldn't pay for it either. Even tho I have watched all 3 seasons. It ended the way it should have. A circle of sorts. Barry is just like his brother. Jamal did not actually rule the country and do everything his way and neither will Barry. Barry is now trapped in his own doing, and it started in his childhood. Molly may have another baby - a girl - but in the States not here. Ahmed has a cushy Army job. Sammy is toast. Leila rules sort of. This country is much like so many others in the mid east now..... My fav character was Jamal...

There are about 10 people actually interested in seeing this mess continue. And they all post here.

It's over. It's done.

The posters' opinions vary.

Where did you find confirmation that Tyrant is no longer being shopped around? Please post the link to the article or interview you used to come to your conclusion. Or, maybe you meant to say, "I think" or "I wish" which is of course quite different from "It is." Please clarify.

Tyrant being shopped around is much different than Tyrant finding another home. Every canceled show these days is 'shopped around'. But the days of streaming services picking up other networks scraps are coming to an end. NETFLIX and AMAZON and HULU are no longer hungering for programming now that they have their own projects they are funding - and many of them at that.

People still think DALLAS is being shopped around, or JERICHO. It's news when it gets picked up. But very soon here, the actors will begin taking other roles, as will the writers, and producers.

If TYRANT gets picked up, I'll donate $500 to your favorite charity. But I'd say my money is safe.

Where did you find confirmation that Tyrant is no longer being shopped around?
Did someone actually say it wasn't be shopped anymore?

An interesting sign of the lack of enthusiasm for TYRANT is that they didn't even produce a set number 10K, 20K, of DVD's for Season 2. Apparently the demand for it just wasn't there. Instead, the DVD sets are produced on demand. That doesn't show a whole lot of faith.

I took a quick search and haven't seen any chatter about TYRANT finding a new home since the news of the cancellation. That's not good news.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that this TYRANT has met it's fate.
