anyone here find homosexuality storyline

a bit bland and untethered from all other subplots?.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to be a serious person.

Why Sammy is a homosexual in a Muslim land isn't compelling because we weren't given any reason to like Sammy. His homosexuality is his entire identity. All he's done since he was introduced was try to hook up. Who cares. He has no regard for his own safety and I find myself disgusted by him because of how he puts others at risk.

Yes. It could be interesting but so far they've done nothing with it except googly eyes and naked torsos. Pretty boring.

It is very bland and unconvincing. It just bothers me when they create a character and his defining characteristic is ''being gay''.

On the other hand, we had Emma, who had no personality whatsoever.

I'll take a homosexual Sammy over a bland, boring Emma any day. Emma had no personality, no intrigue, just nothing at all. I'm surprised her death scene came off as welly dramatic as it did tbh.

But I'd really like to see Sammy bond more with his actual brother Ahmed and have some role in the political affairs in Abudeen than just sucking face with any guy he finds irresistibly charming.

One thing that makes him interesting right now is how he's seemingly using this affair with his teacher to console himself from his issues. He needs guidance from his father, who is making the wrong moves right now in front of his eyes. Sammy ultimately needs to discover who he is and realize what he's doing cause he's clearly lost. Maybe the "teacher" can help him.

It almost seems thrown in. It could be explored better and written with more depth. To me, anyway, it just seems forced in, and typical Hollywood, where we now "have" to have a gay subplot in everything.

Sammy goes to the office and Sammy and the Prof do it. Boring!

The only time there was any depth was when the Professor cooled Sammy's ardor and said, "Let's talk." That was a nice scene, but other than that. No

well...the homosexual theme in some shows were non-essential and forced. On the other hand, i am interested to see how a Sammy would survive being a homosexual in that part of the world. Massive political and religious *beep* storm? Death by stoning? Or people there turned tolerant?
